On Film

Remember a few months ago when I mentioned getting a hold of my dad's old Minolta? Well, I finally got around to finishing and developing a roll {after a few rounds of trial and error} and thought I'd share a few of my favorites. I was afraid none of them were going to come out, which a few of them didn't, but now I can safely say that I see the appeal of shooting film. Love that combo of low contrast + grain. Next up: a roll of black and white. Hopefully more to share soon.

PS. Thanks for staying on board with me with less frequent posts as this blog finds a new groove. I think as someone who creates, you are constantly trying to bridge a gap between the work you know you want to be creating, and where you're currently at. The process is a journey, but I feel like I'm getting there...

  1. I like the dark and gritty feel to how the images come out.

  2. I've developed a new obsession with film. Especially since I'm an amateur and I never actually know if the film will come out the way I expected ;) Your little snapshots are just wonderful!

  3. don't stress! post when you feel like it! it's another form of being creative, so it needs to be just as fluid + flexible as any other art.

also, i'm with you on the film cameras. off to do some exploring with mine today too... :)

  6. Gorgeous shots, Jessica! Film is definitely trial and error, I once shot a whole roll wasn't wound properly. However, most of the time, it's pretty great.

  9. The top shots are very beautiful. The light is soft and I love the angles you found.
Good luck with film! It's an incredibly rewarding medium. Once you know what you're doing and you find your favorite films, it's hard to slow down.
