Rebrand Pt. II » Business Cards

Continuing on the rebrand topic today, I picked up my new business cards from Presshaus LA yesterday and, as promised, put together a few photos of the process. Approaching this overhaul, I kind of took the opportunity of not working with a client to ask myself what would challenge and inspire me to step outside of the box a bit. I found this vintage floral print and thought it would be fun to use it in a way that is timeless and modern, but also be a visual that people could remember me by if I were to pass along my card.

So in order to execute, I turned to the lovely Kristine and asked her thoughts on what she would recommend to turn the design to reality. We mulled over paper samples one afternoon and she introduced me to a new quality of Crane's Lettra that allows you to digital print and letterpress. Bingo. We ended up doing a metallic gold letterpress of the logo on top of the floral print for the back and a two-color run on a nice, creamy white on the front. Did a little duplexing and voilĂ !

I took a few snaps of Kristine working her magic in her studio one evening {above} and was so enamored with the process. The precision it takes to do letterpress — my goodness! Certainly no small feat. This lady knows her stuff. And if you haven't already seen it, check out this video that Emma put together on Kristine, her business, and her inspiring process. One of my favorites...

  10. Great work Jessica, these are wonderful! I own a small letterpress machine and have played around on it and taken courses to learn it, but, wow, I really am too naturally messy I think so I now leave it to the professionals! Love the look of your cards here and the finish is first class. Congrats!
